  We dropped in on our way back home on a Sunday for a bite to eat. We found that the tables were dirty, they looked like they hadn't been wiped over for quite a while and many tables still had dirty plates and cutlery on them. Anyway, being starving we overlooked this and relied on the reputation of the Marston's brand, we took a table and placed an order for 2 roast dinners. It didn't take long to arrive, but that wasn't a huge surprise as they weren't that warm. Then it turned out that the food just want very nice at all, the meat was wafer thin and so was the gravy. The only nice things on the plate were the Yorkshire pudding and the stuffing, everything else was deeply unpleasant..... I'll not be returning.

  Went for a meal with my partner, his son and his parents on a Saturday lunch time. Had never been before but thought it was worth trying from the look of the outside. We were certainly not disappointed. Good value for money, good food and decent portion sizes. Bubbly atmosphere with a variety of customers. Although there were a lot of people there it was not too noisy, the wait for food was quicker than expected. All in all a very pleasant visit. So much so my partner and I went back a couple of days later for another meal and the service, welcome and food was just as good. Well worth a visit.
